Term 2 LEADing Lights update 2

Term 2 LEADing Lights update 2

We’ve now taken delivery of the first version of the AoS Dynamics 365 platform.  Our CEWA development team that comprises school finance officers, business analysts and data migration specialists are working closely with the software developers to provide a purpose-built solution for our schools.  We anticipate that dual process will be done by our migration team here at the Leederville office later this term for our first schools in order to iron out any bugs and ensure we’ve captured all requirements.  Following this trial and testing phase schools will be advised of our rollout plans and schedule.

Our teacher portal that integrates with the AoS platform is nearing completion and will be ready for testing in schools who have adopted the AoS platform in term 3.  Designed for Primary schools in the first phase, the CEWA Teacher Portal aims to simplify the business of teaching: attendance, marks, records, well-being and student information.

IT Leaders’ Forum

On Tuesday 15th May we’ve invited our CEWA IT leaders to a full day of briefing and collaboration on key IT projects due for release this term.  On the day our industry partners from Microsoft, SailPoint and Empired will present the latest information on our CEWA Azure cloud migration strategy, phase 2 of our identity and access management process and the Dynamics 365 AoS platform.  In the afternoon sessions, we will facilitate round table discussions with our industry parters to unpack how these projects will impact individual schools and IT teams.  For IT leads who cannot attend on the day we will stream and record the sessions.

Teams for Business

Our Skype and Teams for business trial in partnership with Microsoft and Telstra is underway with schools and the Leederville office exploring the possibility of a post PSTN/VoIP phone solution for schools.  The trial is progressing well, and participants are enjoying the quality of flexibility of utilising their CEWA extension on desktop and mobile devices.  More information will be published later this term on how schools may look to transition their phone systems to this new service.

Serverless school

Now that schools moved a range of services from their onsite servers to the cloud we’ve been exploring the possibilities and cost savings for reducing or even removing their onsite infrastructure.  Our first school went live for the start of term and we will update the CEWA community as we monitor their progress.

Azure for Schools

We’ve been working with Microsoft, our enterprise partner Ignia and 10 CEWA schools for the Azure for Schools pilot to support their migration to the cloud.  These schools are paving the way for reducing their onsite IT requirements, improved backup and business continuance.  We will update all schools on the  potential service, support and financial impacts of this move to the cloud in the near future.

New Intranet

We know that teachers and school administrators want to stay connected to information and resources, both at school and on the move.  In order to help our CEWA community access the latest news, resources and documentation we’ve completely overhauled the CEWA Intranet for all staff.  Launching this term, our new Intranet integrates seamlessly with the Office 365 platform.  Designed to work on any screen size and with a mobile app the new CEWA Intranet will become your go to place.  Schools who wish to take advantage of this new platform and develop their own school intranet will be able to do so from Semester 2.

New LL website

In order to provide our learning community (teachers, leaders, students, support staff, virtual school network, communities and parents) current and relevant information about all things LEADing Lights we’ve completely upgraded and updated our website.  Designed to help you understand how the different components of the LEADing Lights platform fit together the website feature a comprehensive searchable resource section, links to PD, support and procurement partners.
